15+ Years Hassle Free Metering & Control Solutions
When it comes to implementing considerable changes to busy locations such as Heathrow Airport, it can cause substantial disruptions to the ‘every-day’ operations.
In 2014, Terminal 4 at Heathrow Airport was facing a similar eventuality, until Luke Hirst, Project Manager for Balfour Beatty came onboard with Micronics Flowmeters.
As sole distributors of Micronics Flowmeters, we would like to take this opportunity to illustrate how you can avoid disruptions at busy locations, with the simple use of Micronics.
The Facility Team at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4 currently have a four-year heating solution running until late 2019, entitled Quinqennium 6.
This heating solution included the implementation of an eagerly anticipated redesign for the existing heating system.
The existing heating plan runs at a medium hot water temperature of 120 degrees. The redesigned heating system would run at a much cooler temperature, this is not only more cost-effective,
but it is more environmentally friendly and safer. However, before the project commenced that winter, extensive data would have to be recorded.
To get operations moving, the team at Heathrow Airport brought Luke Hirst from Balfour Beatty on board. Before this operation, Luke had heard positive reviews about Micronics Flowmeters from another industry leader.
Nick Wells of Power Plan Limited had previously used Micronics Flowmeters at Heathrow Terminal 5 and was notably impressed at how it turned a disruptive procedure into a hassle-free operation. With the use of Micronics Flowmeters, there was no need to cut into the pipework.
After discovering there was no need to cut into the pipework and shut down a terminals entire heating system, Luke decided to make use of Micronics Flowmeters in this operation.
Micronics Flowmeters are configured for pipe size, so only simple configuration is required on site. Therefore, minimising overall intervention and offering quick and reliable flow measurement.
The Micronics’ easy-to-follow user menu makes for a simple and cost-effective alternative to traditional in-line meters.
Additionally, Micronics make dry servicing possible, meaning downtime is reduced to an absolute minimum, especially important for busy locations such as an airport terminal.
