DESCRIPTION

Supercal 5 S – Next-Generation Thermal Energy Meter

The Supercal 5 S is Sontex’s latest generation thermal energy meter, succeeding the renowned Superstatic 440.

Designed for modern heat and cooling applications, it combines state-of-the-art technology with a modular, user-friendly architecture. Built with future standards in mind, the Supercal 5 S offers simplified system integration, flexible tariff and data-logging functions, universal data transfer and seamless connectivity with system controllers.

Application

Thanks to its intelligent design and high level of flexibility, the Supercal 5 S is suitable for use as a heat meter, cooling meter or combined heating/cooling meter. Additional pulse inputs allow connection of a wide range of meters including hot and cold water, gas, oil and electricity.

Its extensive communication capabilities and ability to collect and record dynamic plant data make the Supercal 5 S ideal for district energy networks, industrial installations and commercial buildings.

Design

The Supercal 5 S system includes:
• A fluidic oscillator flow sensor
• A battery or mains-powered calculator
• Paired Sontex Pt500 temperature sensors (Sontex 460)

Consumption values can be easily read via the onboard display or through Superprog Windows or Android software. Available communication interfaces include optical probe, NFC, M-Bus, BACnet, Modbus, Sontex bidirectional radio, Wireless M-Bus and LoRaWAN.

Temperature sensors are supplied as matched pairs and must not be separated, shortened or extended. For cable lengths exceeding 3 metres, shielded sensor pairs are recommended.

Measurement Technology

With mains power, the Supercal 5 S records forward and return temperatures every 3–30 seconds (depending on flow). When powered by a D-type battery, measurement occurs every 10–30 seconds. Flow data is continuously updated based on the pulse output of the flow sensor.

Using mean flow rate, temperature differential and medium heat coefficient, the Supercal 5 S calculates energy usage and displays results clearly on the 128×64 pixel illuminated dot-matrix display.

The Supercal 5 S provides a reliable, future-ready solution for precise thermal energy measurement in residential, commercial and industrial environments.
