The J125 range of Gas regulators from Elster are rated for medium pressure applications with a maximum inlet pressure of 8.6Bar. Available in sizes 20mm, 25mm, 40mm and 50mm with a threaded BSP Female connection and the option of a PN16 Flanged connection for the 50mm version, the J125 can also be supplied with built in Over Pressure and Under Pressure Shut Off to protect equipment downstream of the regulator. Should the outlet pressure reach a certain point that trips off either the OPSO or UPSO, then the regulator will slam shut to impede Gas flow. Once the system is pressurised back to the design conditions, the regulator can be reset manually to allow Gas to flow through again.
For the smaller 20mm and 25mm models, the maximum outlet pressure can be set as high as 140mbar. The largest models at 40mm and 50mm can be set to provide outlet pressures up to 350mbar. A full or limited capacity relief valve can be fitted into all models of the J125 to provide further control over the outlet pressure. The relief valve function will vent Gas when necessary in order to reduce the pressure down to that which is set at the regulator. The Gas needs to be piped to a safe location such as the atmosphere. A multitude of J125 versions are available that combine the options of the capacity relief valves and the OPSO/UPSO functions all together, giving a variety of choices to suit all Medium Pressure Gas installations.
In order to size the correct J125, the inlet pressure, outlet pressure and flow rate duty must be known to size up all relevant parts, along with any further requirements for slam shut safety and capacity relief.
