Elvaco CME2100 & CMEX10 Data collection systems from DMS

The Elvaco CME2100 & CMEX10 are modules of Elvaco’s data collection system. The CME2100 unit  can connect, using M-Bus principals, with up to 8 metering devices (as long as they can provide an M-Bus pulse.)

With the use of the CMEX10 unit, the user can increase the number of meters supported by the system. The CMEX10 unit comes in variants adding 32, 64, 128, or 256 ports for meters each adding on to the original 8 possible meters of the base CME2100 unit.

The CME2100 system is modular it allows for the customer to tailor the system for their needs, meaning that customers can select a suitable level of functionality and keeps cost as low as possible.

The CME2100 can be installed on site quickly and seamlessly integrates with an M-Bus network. It is recommended that users utilise a mixture of both the star (figure 2) and bus (figure 1) topologies to get the maximum usage out of the M-Bus network. After mounting the base CME unit and any CMEX extenders onto a DIN-rail Installation is carried out with the use of a regular phone sim card which can be bought from most retailers and then inserted into the slot on the face of the CME unit. After connecting the M-Bus cables to the system and adding a mains supply, the modules should turn on. The sim card is then sent simple commands through text messages in order to properly install the CME unit into the system. An example command message would be “install 5” which signals the system to search for 5 meters and begin receiving data from them.

Once installed there are various different ways to retrieve the data from the system such as an email protocol (figure 3) which sends the data to a specified email address which can then be read with an email client. The system can also be configured to send the data via a FTP and/or HTTP (figure 4) making the data available on a web server. Diagrams showing both tese methods can be found below
