Innovation from Sontex: The Superstatic 789 Heat Meter

The biggest change in design from previous models is the use of a composite meter body instead of brass. The lightweight construction and lower costs add to the list of benefits that all Superstatic Meters carry. Leveraging advanced fluidic oscillation technology, this device offers high accuracy, durability, and adaptability, making it a preferred choice for energy monitoring and billing applications.

Key Features of the Superstatic 789

  1. Fluidic Oscillation Technology: Unlike traditional mechanical meters with moving parts, the Superstatic 789 utilises fluidic oscillation, employing piezoelectric sensors to measure flow rates. This design ensures high precision, especially at low flow rates, and reduces wear and tear, leading to a longer lifespan and minimal maintenance requirements.

  2. Robust Construction: The meter features a high-tech composite flow sensor, making it lightweight yet durable. Its corrosion-resistant materials and static flow sensor design enhances reliability and performance over time.

  3. Integrated Temperature Sensors: To streamline installation and reduce costs, one of the temperature sensors is mounted directly on the meter body. This compact design is particularly beneficial for applications with limited  space.

  4. Flexible Power Options: The Superstatic 789 is battery-powered, with options for 6-year or 12-year battery life. The batteries are replaceable without the need to uninstall the meter, ensuring continuous operation and  convenience.

  5. Communication Capabilities: The meter features multiple communication interfaces, including optical for programming special functions, M-Bus, Wireless M-Bus (OMS compatible), LoRaWAN, and traditional pulse outputs. This ensures seamless integration into building management systems and enables remote monitoring.

  6. Compliance and Approval: The Superstatic 789 complies with the European Directive MID 2014/32/EU and the EN 1434 class 2 standard, guaranteeing its suitability for legal metering and billing applications.

Installation and Maintenance Considerations

Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance. The meter should be installed in pipelines that have been leak-tested, flushed, and well-vented before commissioning. It's essential to avoid pressure surges and ensure that no air pockets exist in the system, as these can affect measurement accuracy. Additionally, the environmental temperature range for the meter is 0...55 ºC.

Regular maintenance and monitoring are recommended to ensure sustained accuracy, optimal performance, and a prolonged lifespan of the meter. Periodic inspections help detect potential issues early, preventing inaccuracies and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Compliance with HNTAS Billing Regulations

Adhering to regular maintenance and monitoring practices is essential for meeting HNTAS billing regulations. These regulations mandate precise and reliable metering to ensure fair and accurate billing. Failure to comply

with maintenance requirements may result in discrepancies, potential penalties, or non-compliance with legal metering standards.

The Sontex Superstatic 789 stands out as a reliable and efficient solution for measuring thermal energy consumption. Its innovative design, coupled with robust features and compliance with industry standards, makes it a valuable asset for accurate energy monitoring and billing in various heating and cooling applications.
