Comparing the J48 and J125 Gas Regulators: Key Features and Applications

Do you know the differences between the J48 Gas Regulator and the J125 Gas Regulator?

DMS have the answers for you!

The J125 and J48 gas regulators from Honeywell serve different purposes and have distinct features suited for specific pressure applications. Here are the key differences between the two products:

J125 Gas Regulators

 Pressure Range:

   - Designed for medium pressure applications.

   - Maximum inlet pressure: 8.6 Bar.

   - Maximum outlet pressure:140 mbar for 20mm and 25mm models and 350 mbar for 40mm and 50mm models.   24091711462621085.jpg

Connection Sizes and Types:

   - Available in sizes: 20mm, 25mm, 40mm, and 50mm.

   - Threaded BSP Female connection.

   - Option of a PN16 Flanged connection for the 50mm version.

Safety Features:

   - Built-in Over Pressure Shut Off (OPSO) and Under Pressure Shut Off (UPSO) to protect downstream equipment.

   - Manual reset required after OPSO or UPSO activation.

Relief Valve:

   - Option for a full or limited capacity relief valve to control outlet pressure.

   - Relief valve vents gas to reduce pressure to the set level, requiring safe venting to the atmosphere.

Applications:

   - Suitable for various medium-pressure gas installations with customisable options for safety and pressure control.

J48 Gas Regulators

Pressure Range:

   - Designed for low-pressure installations.

   - Maximum inlet pressure: 350 mbar.

   - Maximum outlet pressure: 160 mbar for standard models and up to 345 mbar for 100mm and 150mm models.

Connection Sizes and Types:

   - Available in sizes: 20mm up to 80mm with threaded BSP Female connection.

   - Flanged PN16 connection available from 65mm up to 150mm.

Adjustment and Control:

   - Quick-release spring adjusters for easy outlet pressure setting without dismantling.

   - Tamper-prevention sealing available to prevent unauthorised adjustments.

Lock-Up Capability:

   - Full Positive Lock Up feature to close the regulator when demand stops or pressure nears the outlet pressure setting, protecting downstream equipment.24091711483768337.jpg

Applications:

   - Recognised for controlling low-pressure gas installations with high quality and reliability.

Summary

The J125 is suited for medium-pressure applications with higher inlet pressures up to 8.6 Bar and offers multiple safety features including OPSO, UPSO, and relief valves. The J48 is designed for low-pressure applications with a maximum inlet pressure of 350 mbar and features easy adjustment and tamper-proofing capabilities along with positive lock-up for safety.

These differences help ensure that each regulator is used in appropriate gas pressure installations, meeting specific safety and functional requirements.
