Danfoss have recently introduced their first of its kind- Pressure Independent Control Valve, the AB-QM 4.0. Available in sizes DN15-DN32. This best-in-class PICV with scaling and clogging resistant design is used for HVAC heating and cooling applications.
The basic principles of the AB-QM 4.0 are still similar, this control valve is manufactured with an automatic flow limitation and built-in differential pressure controller. Its control performance is very accurate, and valve has a still- unique authority of 100%.
The value that the AB-QM 4.0 valves provide has improved significantly, it’s been engineered to be the indisputable best PICV on the market due to its clogging resistant design, PN25 Nominal Pressure, accurate flow measuring and 
bi-directional filling and flushing.
It has been designed for terminal units such as fan-coil units, climate ceilings and chilled beams.
Features and benefits of the AB-QM 4.0
· Specification & Installation- It allows precise and visible flow settings, even with an actuator mounted, and can be accurately measured with the PFM 1000. Available in models with internal or external threads and optional test plugs, its bi-directional filling and flushing streamline simplifies the commissioning process.
· Reliability & Robustness- designed with a long lifespan and the best-in-class reliability. With the inner construction made from dedicated polymer, the valve is less sensitive for scaling and clogging.
· Connectivity & Data- AB-QM 4.0 is compatible with the high-precision NovoCon S digital actuator, featuring BACnet or Modbus communication for seamless BMS integration. This plug-and-play setup enables remote commissioning and flushing, saving time. It also provides extended system data to the BMS for predictive maintenance, alarms, and quick error detection.

The Sono Range
Another popular product line from Danfoss is their ultrasonic heating and cooling meters, the SONO range, including the SonoSelect, SonoSafe, and SonoMeter 40. These meters offer a variety of features suitable for both domestic and commercial applications.
The SonoSelect, SonoSafe, and SonoMeter 40 all feature compact designs with displays fitted to the body of the meter, offering domestic sizes (15-32mm), and provide various communication outputs, with the ability to be powered by either battery or 230V. They also utilise wet type pockets and screwed BSP connections (unions included) for certain sizes. However, the SonoSelect and SonoMeter 40 can handle both heating and cooling applications, whereas the SonoSafe is limited to heating only. The SonoSelect has a flexible 1.5m PUR or silicone cable, while the SonoSafe has a shorter 0.5m PVC cable. The SonoMeter 40 offers a broader size range (15-100mm), multiple sensor lengths (1.5m, 3m, 5m, or 10m), and additional power options (including 12V-36VAC and 12V-42VDC). Furthermore, the SonoMeter 40 supports higher temperature ranges (0-130°C) compared to the SonoSelect (5-130°C) and SonoSafe (5-95°C) and utilises dry type pockets for sizes 25mm and above, with flanged PN16 connections for sizes 50mm and above.
