Q&A with Jack Pearson

How long have you been working in the industry? 

I entered the realm of metering and gas control only 9 months ago – it’s been a hectic but really enjoyable start to life in the industry.

What would you say your strengths are?

I love working under pressure, I’ve been working in high pressure scenarios since I was 15 and have learnt to thrive in them.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Sitting next to Brad, Chris and Dave (I can’t forget the rest of the team either), but these 3 have really helped me settle in and have made the last 9 months really enjoyable. 

What made you work in this industry?

I originally left my old job as a pub/kitchen manager for a brand new challenge into something I had never experienced before, and I certainly found exactly that and I am loving the journey so far.

If you were to create a slogan for DMS, what would it be and why?

“We’re Lovin’ It” – I believe this speaks for itself.

How do you manage your time?

I keep my documents/emails and follow-ups organised so that I never feel overwhelmed or lost, and I always have a basic schedule/plan for the day when I first walk through the DMS doors in the morning.

What advice would you give to someone new in the industry?

Be prepared that every day you will have a new enquiry you have never seen before – if not an enquiry, it’s learning a new product, a new area, a new opportunity.

If you could invent something to assist installers, what would it be?

A teleportation device – allowing us to complete multiple site visits up and down the country in one day!

How do you enjoy spending your spare time?

I spend a lot of my spare time either in the gym, watching my beloved Derby County, listening to music/attending gigs or reading (trying to figure out the meaning of life). I have a big interest in anything science-based, especially human anatomy, neuroscience and psychology (I did my university degree in Sports Science). I love learning new things and have been jokingly nicknamed “The Sponge” by my colleague John Dawson – which I hope is in reference to my willingness to learn…
