The DMS Metering Solutions team returned from ExCeL London following two incredibly busy and successful days on 14–15 October, filled with valuable conversations, exciting opportunities and the chance to reconnect with customers, suppliers and industry partners.

With plenty of enquiries, new connections and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the exhibition, we're delighted with the outcome of this year's event.

Going Paperless: Another Step Towards Our Carbon Goals

Back at DMS HQ, we’re also making changes behind the scenes as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

We are currently transitioning to a paperless system across our operations, helping us reduce unnecessary paper use, minimise waste and improve the efficiency of the way we work.

It may sound like a relatively small operational change, but reducing our reliance on paper forms part of the wider steps we are taking to reduce our environmental impact and work towards our carbon goals.

The new system will also help streamline processes internally, improve access to information and reduce the amount of printing, filing and physical paperwork used throughout the business.

As with any significant system change, there may be some minor disruption while our team adjusts to new processes. We are working hard to ensure this is kept to an absolute minimum and that customers continue to receive the high level of service they expect from DMS.

Gas Safety Week returns from 14th–20th September 2026, bringing the industry together once again to raise awareness of gas safety and the simple steps that can help protect people, properties and businesses.

At DMS Metering Solutions, gas metering and control has been a core part of what we do for over 25 years. From diaphragm, rotary and turbine gas meters to regulators, safety shut-off valves, smart metering technology and accessories, we support contractors, consultants and building operators with complete gas metering solutions.

Where can you check what type of gas work an engineer is qualified to carry out?

Gas Safe registered engineers carry an ID card showing their licence details. The categories on the back confirm the types of gas work they are qualified to undertake.

These can all be warning signs of an unsafe or poorly operating gas appliance and should not be ignored.

A working CO alarm is an important additional safety measure, but it doesn't replace regular servicing and safety checks carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Who is legally allowed to work on gas appliances?

Gas work should be carried out by a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Always check their Gas Safe ID card and make sure they are qualified for the particular type of work required.

How often should gas appliances be checked?

Gas Safe Register recommends having gas appliances safety checked every year by a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Regular maintenance can also help identify developing faults before they become more serious.

What are the warning signs of an unsafe gas appliance?

Look out for signs such as:

Lazy yellow or orange flames instead of crisp blue flames
Black or sooty marks around the appliance
Excessive condensation
Pilot lights that repeatedly go out
An appliance behaving differently or performing poorly

If you're concerned, stop using the appliance and contact a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Can I install or alter gas equipment myself?

Gas installations should not be treated as a DIY job. Work involving gas appliances and installations must be carried out by appropriately qualified professionals.

What should I do if I suspect a gas leak?

Don't try to find or repair the leak yourself. Avoid naked flames and electrical switches, ventilate the area where it is safe to do so, leave the property or affected area and contact the Gas Emergency Service.

Water management in modern buildings is about far more than recording how many litres have been used.

Summer is here, and it has already been a busy, exciting and productive season for the DMS team. From welcoming new faces and celebrating long-standing colleagues, to supporting key industry events, expanding our CPD programme and continuing our sustainability journey, there is plenty to share.

Health and Safety

The safety of our team, visitors and customers remains a top priority.

Our staff have recently renewed their fire marshal and first aid training, helping to ensure we maintain a safe and prepared working environment.

Regular training, updated procedures and clear communication all play an important part in keeping everyone safe across our offices, warehouse and wider operations.

Supporting the Next Generation of Riders

We have been thoroughly enjoying the 2026 BSB season and are proud to continue supporting the ROKiT Rookies and Affinity Sports Academy.

The ROKiT Rookies have been performing brilliantly, and it has been fantastic to watch the next generation of riders gaining experience, confidence and success on track.

Many Renewable Heat Incentive installations are now reaching a key milestone: the 10-year mark.

If your heat meter was installed around 2015 or 2016, now is the time to check whether it is due for recalibration or replacement. Under the RHI scheme, heat meters must remain accurate and compliant to support ongoing incentive payments. Leaving it too late could risk disruption, delays, or unnecessary issues with future claims.
