AMR Data Colection
| Energy consumption must be billed precisely and regularly. When customers report meter values to the utilities themselves. errors often happen. The utility must adjust the figures in a subsequent bill. which gives the customer a bad experience. Therefore. many utilities today collect data via modem. M-Bus or the like. Reading via radio can be used as a separate solution or as an easy and inexpensive way to upgrade or extend the existing system. With Kamstrup’s new radio system reading is remote. which means that the installation costs are limited and that the consumer is not disturbed when the meter is read. Collection of typical consumption data takes less than 6 seconds – whenever it suits the utility. The radio system consists of: · A radio module which is fitted in the heat or electricity meter · A terminal for reading meters according to the ”walk-by/drive-by” concept · Software which ensures that data can be transmitted and processed in a computer Accessories include external aerials. rechargeable batteries. holder for terminal to be mounted in cars. car aerial etc. The system is self-configurating and requires no special programming of either energy meter or radio module. A radio module is fitted in the electricity or heat meter without using tools. and is ready for use immediately after installation. The terminal's primary task is to read meters. but it can also be used as an auxiliary tool during installation and commissioning. Kamstrup's radio system uses a license free frequency. which means that the utility will not have to pay for using this frequency band to collect energy meter data. The data protocol makes the system very sturdy and ensures that data transmission is not interrupted by other radio systems using the same frequency. such as wireless bells. car and baby alarms etc. The range is up to 200 metres from the installation site. and during normal installation conditions external cables are not necessary. If a larger range is required an external aerial can be mounted. which will increase the range with up to 500 metres. The radio modules are future-orientated and can form part of a future radio network. where contact can be established from the utility via routers and concentrators to individual energy meters. Kamstrup's radio system is CE marked and tested according to EN 1434 and the Radio & Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (R&TTE) EN 300-220 - class 2 and EN 301-489. | |
